ABOUT US

We are Sue Moore and Mike Farleigh, experienced cat owners who live near Amroth. Our families have always had cats and we know home just isn’t home without at least one! At one time we had a feline family of four. Delta was the first to join the household as a tiny kitten in 1982. He had beautiful black fur with a white bib and toes.  Delta passed away at the age of 18 in 2000.  His friend Robo had adopted us in the mid 1990s, another gorgeous black and white chap.  He died aged 20 in 2007.  Maisie, a very pretty tabby girl and Charlie, her tiny, totally black son, joined the family in 1998.  Sadly, Maisie died in 2011 followed by a broken-hearted Charlie in 2012.  We missed them all dreadfully, lost without the patter of tiny paws.  In June 2013 we decided it was time to adopt again and were excited to be given the privilege of offering a loving home to two little brothers who were in the care of Greenacres Animal Rescue.  Hamish and Dougal moved in, both of them black with some hidden white bits!

When they came to us they were about a year old and Dougal had been badly injured. Here they are when they arrived, Hamish on the left and Dougal minus some fur on the right.

And here they are at 2 years old with Dougal, now on the left, having made a full recovery.

Hamish and Dougal

In November 2022 we were devastated when Hamish suddenly became ill with a suspected brain tumour and his little body was unable to recover.  His illness was mercifully brief but the loss of his brother left Dougie bereft.  He is slowly coming round and recovering his mojo, surrounded by love and support.

We understand how important your pet is to you.  We also know that it is difficult to impose upon neighbours and friends to look after them when you are away, particularly for more than a couple of days.  The local catteries provide an excellent service (see the links page for our recommendation), but cats are creatures of habit and some become very stressed in an unfamiliar environment. To minimise this stress you may prefer them to stay in their own surroundings, especially during short breaks.

In response to this, Care4MyPet was created to provide reliable and affordable care in the local area.

When you entrust your pet to our care we recognise that it is a very important decision so please contact us before you decide.  We are happy to answer any questions, pop and see you to discuss your requirements and provide you with personal references from existing customers.
